Pathway is a new church and wanted a modern, simple logo. They are a church plant in a rural community outside of Kansas City. More than 80% of the people in their county has no church experience.
Our creative process revealed the church’s desire to be relevant and not do “church as usual.” They also place a high value on truth. A third pillar was action and community involvement — taking church to their community. These positions lead us away from any mark that was vague, too soft or overtly religious. It had to be clear and imply action.
The resulting icon represents a path. It also mimics light shining through darkness. It’s simplicity helps it be memorable. The font was selected because the tapers and angles of the characters reflected the wedge in the icon.
The icon’s overall square shape has been carried into much of the print collateral, including their prospectus and invite cards.
