Key words for this identity were: vibrant, diverse, eclectic, drawing in, sending out, friendly, relational, group, open, expanding
This challenge was to rebrand an aging church that had seen numerical and spiritual growth after calling a new pastor. The beauty of the church (and its community) is its diversity in age, race, economics and education. Capturing the diversity and vibrancy of Grace was the top priority.
The icon uses blocks of various sizes and colors to represent the people who attend and the diversity of their lives and their spirituality. The center stone represents Christ. The shapes around the center can be seen as coming in, but can also be seen as going out. The missing shapes symbolize the room for growth — a place for everyone. Within the shapes can also be found cross symbols — sometimes formed by blocks, sometimes by negative spaces or a combination of both — indicating that Christ is always working and moving among us.
The colors and the color blocking reflects their physical structure, which has an abundance of color-blocked, stained-glass windows.
